Welcome to Shri Krishna Mukhyaprana Raghavendraswamy Temple
The Shri Krishna temple was established around 800 years ago, by Shri Madhvacharya and today is popularly known as Udupi Krishna temple. Acharya Madhva gave a very invaluable gift to future generations by appointing his 8 disciples to conduct the pooja of Lord Shri Krishna at Udupi which also helped spread the good principles of Dvaita teachings and philosophy.
Our most respected & beloved guru Shri Shri Sugunendra Theertha swamiji comes from the line of pontiffs appointed to Puthige matha, by Shri Madhvacharya.
In these times of violence, unrest & communal hatred prevalent in the world, Shri Shri Swamiji has taken up the great and arduous task of touring around the world and spread the message of peace, brotherhood, harmony and co-existence of different religions.
During his world tours Shri Swamiji established branches of the Shri Puthige matha in North America in Arizona, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Texas, & Toronto. The matha established in Houston, TX is one among the different mathas that Shri Swamiji has established.
As per the request and humble demand from citizens of Texas, Shri Swamiji, with an intention that devotees get showered with blessings of Shri Krishna and especially Shri Guru Raayaru, established the Shri Krishna Vrundavana priest house in Houston TX on Nov 16th 2011 near US 59 & Wilcrest.
Shri Swamiji established this matha and offered it to the people of Texas with a noble intention that pooja be performed 3 times daily, Anna daana be done in the afternoon and night and to provide space for conducting the dharmic rituals on festivals and other hari dinas (holy days).
Like a parent nurtures and takes care of their children as they grow, similar responsibility tos upport , and grow this matha bigger and successful is on the hands of the care takers who are none other than the devotees.
Shri Swamiji has appointed a priest to serve the requests from devotees and a cook to take care of the Anna Dhanana at the matha.
In these days of busy schedule and other worldly pressures, people are soon forgetting the importance of celebrating festivals, performing pooja, upanayana and other dharmic rituals on a daily basis.
This matha has the potential to remind, re-kindle that spirit and help people perform these dharmic rituals.
In Shri Krishna Vrundavana, Pooja is performed 3 times a day, bhajans are sung, anna daana is done 2 times a day. On Sundays panchamruta seva is performed to all deities, On Mondays Rudra Prashna, Chamaka and Shiva Stuti that relax the mind are recited. The recital of the epic discourse that Shri Krishna gave to Arjuna, that enlightens us with the greatness of the lord who runs this universe, The Bhagavadgeetha is done on Tuesdays. On Thursdays which is the day of the Guru, raghavendra stotra, ashtottara, mangalashtaka and bhajans in praise of the greatest yati Shri Raghavendra Swami are recited and sung. Stotras like Shri Lakshmi narayana hrudaya, ashtottara, praising the Goddess of wealth and loka mata Shri Lakshmi are recited on Fridays. On Saturdays we recite the Vishnu Sahasra Naama praying and praising the lord Vishnu who is omni present and omni potent. To overcome the worldly difficulties that we face, on every sankashta chathurthi day, Vighneshwara homa, havana are performed. In order to pray to the lord to shower prosperity to us and make us grow like a full moon in shukla paksha, on poornima day Shri Satyanarayana pooja is performed. This is the summary of dharmic activities performed at the matha.
The priests are also willing to help any adults or kids interested in learning the stotras, japa and recitals.
So dear devotees, why delay, come and join your hands together in building your Shri Krishna Vrundavana and taking it to a higher level of success.
